The Ball: Part 13 (Lauren)

(Click here to read The Ball from the beginning)

When we last left our hero, he was engaged in an epic battle between the heroes and villains of New Spork City. The Chief of Police, Lief Captin, however, was getting worried. - Lauren

Chief Captain Lief Captin waded through the mess of soggy tablecloths, hors d'oeuvres, and napkins to the podium. He grabbed the dripping microphone.

"Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3..."

The heroes and villains stopped their fighting and stared at him.

"Ahem, um, hi, so I know we're all having such a great evening..."

The heroes and villains cheered and clapped in agreement.

"But this is New Spork City property, so it's better if we wrap this thing up..."

The villains hissed and booed. Poki raised his hand and whisked away the microphone by magic. It landed smoothly in his outstretched hand.

"Heroes of New Spork City," he said. "You have fought valiantly..."

"We won't give you Harry!" shouted Dingo.

Everyone stared at him.

"Sorry, wrong movie," he said, blushing.

Sven put his loudspeaker on the loudest setting.

"Villains of New Spork City," he said. Everyone in the ballroom covered their ears as his voice reverberated through the room. Sven hastily removed his helmet.

"You have fought idiotically," he continued. "You guys know we're just gonna defeat you right?"

The villains hissed and booed again.

"But look," reasoned Sven. "Your brilliant plan to defeat us individually totally backfired. Not only did you not get the right people, you were also defeated by the wrong ones. I mean, how lame is that?"

The villains booed and threw soggy popcorn.

"Listen up, villains," said Sven. "We will always defeat you. Continue fighting us tonight and we will defeat you. Run, and we will apprehend you. No matter how much you struggle, no matter how far you run, no matter how hard you fight, you will never defeat us. You will always be apprehended. You will always be brought to justice.

"Surrender now and you will be shown mercy. Fight us, and you will be defeated. Villains of New Spork City, you have a choice. But be warned, those who choose evil must face the inevitable consequences. So those of you who choose to struggle, choose to fight the light, choose to love the darkness, I have one word for you."

He jammed his helmet back on.

"Run."

The villains of New Spork City, transfixed by his thrilling speech, were suddenly panic stricken as his last word echoed through their heads and the room. Horrified, the villains began to trip over each other as they scrambled pell-mell toward the door.

"Heroes of New Spork City!" yelled Sven, his loudspeaker causing the walls to tremble. "Apprehend them!"

"Death!" screamed Dingo.

"Dingo, no Lord of the Rings," yelled Ted, but Ben eagerly took up the cry.

"Death!" he screamed.

"Death!" screamed Helen Excalibur.

"Death!" roared Jupidor.

"Dddddddeeeeeaaaaaaattttttttthhhhhhhh!" said Plucky.

"Wait a minute," yelled Sven. "Nobody kill anybody!"

But the heroes ignored him as they pursued the terrified villains out of the ballroom and into the night air.

"Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaath!"

"Stop!" roared Poki. "Villains, stop! Turn and fight them! Turn and fight them!"

The villains turned, panting.

"Kill the Spoon Suit Man!" shrieked the evil Clementine. "Kill him first!"

Sven ducked as an orange grenade flew past his head.

"Sven, what should we do?" yelled Cassandra.

Sven frantically surveyed the scene. A plan began to form in his mind.

"Dor!" he yelled. "Take down the Clementine! Cap'n Cino!"

"Reporting for duty," said Cap'n Cino.

"Take down Poki."

"Why don't I get to - " began Dor.

"Trust me on this," said Sven. "Helen, Red Herring! Ted and Dingo, Scab Berto. Edgar Oscar, Sahara and Zilch, take down all the minions. Chief Captain Lief Captin, take down Puerto. Cassandra and White Spinster, finish off Jazmin. Plucky and Ben, take down IDK!"

Sven looked around. He felt like there was someone he had forgotten, but he couldn't think who.

"Do you feel like there's someone you've forgotten?" said an echoing voice. Sven spun around.

"Right," he said. "And you are...?"

"Echo."

Next up: the conclusion to the epic battle!
